RULES: Competition is played under UYSA rules in accordance with the USYSA, USSF and FIFA.

QUALIFICATION: This is an open tournament. No qualifying required.

AWARDS: Special commemorative team plaques will be awarded to each first, second, third and fourth place finisher in each age division.

ASSOCIATION/STATE TEAM EVENT

Only THREE (3) boys' and (3) THREE girls' teams (One (1) Under 14, One (1) Under 18, and One (1) Under 22) from each association/state will be allowed to compete in Corbillon Cup style competition. A minimum of two (2) and a maximum of four (4) players per team. Sign up for the team event will take place on Thursday, August 6 at Heritage High School.

ENTRY DEADLINE: Entries must be received by Wednesday, July 15, 1998. It is important that all forms are completed and returned together. Overnight delivery is strongly advised. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE DATE OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPETE.

The Host Committee has spent many hours planning and preparing for this AAU Event. In order to make it a great success, we are asking for your cooperation. It is the responsibility of the coach, designated person of the team, or athlete to return all the necessary monies and completed forms by the deadline date. It is not the responsibility of the LOC or the AAU to make sure all are completed, ONLY TO ACCEPT OR REJECT ENTRY(S) BASED ON DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED.

ENTRY FEE: $26.00 -- No personal checks will be accepted. All entry fees must be in the form of either a cashier's check or money order and should be made payable to the XXXII AAU Junior Olympic Games. Do not send cash.

AAU All athletes and coaches must be members of their AAU Association and be able to present their 1998 AAU membership card at
MEMBERSHIP: time of Check-in as well as their USATT card at the competition site.

RULES OF PLAY: USA Table Tennis (USATT) rules will govern play.

QUALIFICATION: Entry will be accepted ONLY under one of the following conditions:

1. Your AAU Association held a qualifying tournament. The top three (3) finishers in each division and each event may enter.
2. Your AAU Region held a qualifying tournament. The top three (3) finishers in each division and event may enter.
3. An exception may be granted by the Tournament Director. CALL - (706)-737-2883 (Those with no access or availability to a qualifier are still encouraged to attend!!).

AWARDS: AAU Junior Olympic Games medals will be awarded to the top four (4) finishers in each event and each age division.

PRACTICE: Athletes should plan to arrive no later than the morning of Wednesday, August 5. Please plan to Check-in first at the Norfolk Scope Arena which will allow for adequate time for practice which will be available starting at 9:00 am at Hertiage High School. Practice will conclude by 4:30pm so that all athletes may attend Opening Ceremonies. The AAU Junior Olympic Games Opening Ceremonies will take place on Wednesday, August 5, at 7:30pm. Competition will begin on Thursday, August 6, at 9:00 am.

CHECK-IN: Pre-Registration: It is extremely important that all entries be received in Virginia no later than the previously-mentioned deadline date. ENTRY FORM(S) RECEIVED BEYOND THAT DATE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!! Of course, we want as many athletes as possible to participate, so please get all entry forms in on time. Again, guaranteed overnight delivery will become mandatory if it is the only way to ensure compliance with the deadline date.

On-Site Check In: Check-in for all athletes, coaches, clubs and teams participating in the 1998 AAU Junior Olympic Games will be held at the Norfolk Scope Arena located at 201 East Brambleton Avenue in Norfolk, Virginia. There will be a $2.00 fee to park at the Scope Arena during Check-in (registration) hours. Parking is available in the garage beneath the facility and in surface lots across the street. RV and Bus parking will also be available in these lots. Upon arrival at the Scope Arena, please follow posted signs to the Check-in Area. For check-in hours, mapping, and specific directions from locations throughout the Hampton Roads Metropolitan Area, please consult your Athletes', Coaches' and Parents' Handbook.

Directions to the Norfolk Scope Arena:
From the North (Hampton Area): 64 East to 264 West, take exit 10 City Hall Avenue exit, Right at the first stop light on St. Pauls Blvd. Parking Garage is three lights up on the left.
From the West (Portsmouth, Suffolk Area): Route 58 East (pickup from 85 or 95) to 64 West to 264 West, Take exit 10, City Hall Ave, right at stop light, on St. Pauls Blvd, parking garage is three stop lights up on the left.
From the South (Chesapeake Area): Take route 17 North to 64 West to 264 West to exit 10, City Hall Ave, right at stop light on St. Pauls Blvd, parking garage is three stop lights up on the left.

AGE Determined by the competitor's age on the first day of table tennis competition, August 6, 1998.
DETERMINATION:

DRESS CODE: Soft-soled shoes and socks are required. The USATT dress code will be enforced.

OPENING Opening Ceremonies will be held at Norfolk State University's Track Stadium on Wednesday, August 5 at 7:30 pm.
CEREMONIES: Parking on the university grounds is very limited and not convenient to the stadium. To facilitate your arrival at the event, the Organizing Committee is setting up a hassle free transportation system that will make scheduled pick-ups at convenient locations throughout the Hampton Roads Area and deliver you right to the stadium gates. At the conclusion of Opening Ceremonies, you will board the shuttles and be returned to your parking location. In order to arrive at the stadium in time for the festivities, please plan to use the transportation system by utilizing the parking lots located close to your hotel. (A detailed map and parking directions will be provided at Athlete Check-in at the Norfolk Scope Arena). Enjoy the spectacular show without the hassle of restrictive campus parking. Please be sure to fill out the appropriate section of your Event Registration Forms so that we can accurately plan to have enough shuttles at designated locations to pick you up! We look forward to seeing you at this year's Opening Ceremonies!

HOUSING: All requests for housing will be handled by the Games Reservation Service. Simply call our toll free number at 1-888-JR AAU 98 (1-888-572-2898). A list of hotels and areas in which they are located can be found in the Athletes', Coaches', and Parents' Handbook, review this information and then call the reservations number. Be sure to have the following information ready:

· the sport you will be competing in
· the number of people in your party
· the number of rooms you need
· your arrival and departure dates
· your credit card number

Your accommodations will be confirmed while you are on the line.

Dormitory Housing will also be available at Norfolk State University and Old Dominion University. Ask the operator for details!
