FORMAT: Triathlon, pentathlon, heptathlon and decathlon are conducted simultaneously. Athletes compete in the event suited for their age group.

RULES: Rules of the National Governing Body (USA Track & Field) shall apply, with the following exceptions: (1) In the long jump, shot put, discus and javelin throws, each competitor shall be allowed three trials only; and (2) In running events and hurdles, a competitor shall be disqualified in any event in which he/she has made three false starts.

QUALIFICATION: The top four finishers from each AAU Regional Championship qualifies to compete. All others who meet the minimum point standards at their AAU Association or Regional Championship also advance.

AWARDS: National AAU Junior Olympic Games medals are awarded to the top eight finishers in each age division. The first place finisher shall be designated as "All-America" and receive the appropriate certificate and patch.

All events will be run in the order listed above. If there are changes, there will be a revised schedule at athlete Check-in.

The Intermediate Boys and Young Men Pole Vaulters will compete on separate pits. Starting height will be 6' or 1.83m. All events will be contested approximately 30 minutes after the preceding event is completed. The 30-minute rest period will include rest, food, measuring steps, and warm-up. Be ready. Each Final Event will be contested according to the point totals of all the preceding events. All possible medal winners must run together.

SCORING: The 1985 IAAF scoring tables will be used for the Intermediates and Young TABLES: Women and Men. The 1971 IAAF Women's Tables will be used for both boys and girls in the Sub Bantam, Bantam, SubMidget, Midget and Youth Divisions.
