QUALIFICATION: This event is open to any USYSA, AAU or affiliate team meeting the AAU Junior Olympic Games guidelines. Teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

ENTRY DEADLINE: Team Entry must be received by Wednesday, July 14, 1999. Overnight delivery is strongly advised. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE DATE OR YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE.
The Local Organizing Committee has spent many hours planning and preparing for this AAU Event. In order to make it a great success, we are asking for your cooperation. It is the responsibility of the coach, designated person of the team, or athlete to return all the necessary monies and completed forms by the deadline date. It is not the responsibility of the LOC or the AAU to make sure all are completed, ONLY TO ACCEPT OR REJECT ENTRY (S) BASED ON DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED.
ENTRY FEE: $350.00 per team (includes AAU Membership) , non-refundable entry fee. No per player fees required. Entry fee must be in the form of either a cashier's check or money order. No personal checks will be accepted. Please make check payable to 1999 AAU JUNIOR OLYMPIC GAMES. The team entry fee includes the cost of AAU Membership if not already current members of the AAU.
ENTRY LIMITS: Limit of 16 teams per division, first-come, first-serve basis. Entries are accepted based on the date they are received. If any age group has fewer than four (4) entries, those teams will be given the option of playing in the next older age group, or receiving a refund on the entry fee. Any teams in this situation will be notified immediately after the entry deadline.
FORMAT: Pool-play format will be used with the top teams in each age division advancing to a championship single elimination bracket. The number of teams advancing will be determined by the number of teams entered. Format is subject to change based on the number of entries. Each team will receive at least three games.
Pool play: Tuesday, August 3- Friday, August 6
Single Elimination Championship Bracket: Saturday, August 7
CHECK-IN: Pre-Registration: It is extremely important that all entries be received no later than the above-mentioned deadline date. ENTRY FORM (S) RECEIVED BEYOND THAT DATE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! Of course, we want as many athletes as possible to participate, so please get all entry forms in on time. Again, guaranteed overnight delivery will become mandatory if it is the only way to ensure compliance with the deadline date.
Team Check-In: Check-in for all soccer teams competing will be on Monday, August 2nd no later than 5:00 p.m. Age will be verified at Check-in. Check-in for all athletes, coaches, clubs and teams participating will be held at the Cleveland Convention Center located at 500 Lakeside Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. Upon arrival at the Cleveland Convention Center, please follow posted signs to the check-in area. For check-in hours, mapping, and specific directions from locations throughout Greater Cleveland, please consult your Athletes', Coaches' and Parents' Handbook.
Directions to the Cleveland Convention Center:
From the South: Take either I-77 or I-71 North into downtown Cleveland. Exit at the East 9th Street exit. Follow East 9th Street North to St. Clair Avenue. Turn left onto St. Clair. The Cleveland Convention Center will be on the right side after the East 6th Street traffic light.
From the East: Take I-90 West to downtown Cleveland. Exit at the East 9th Street exit. Turn left (South) at the light. Then two lights to St. Clair Avenue and make a right. The Cleveland Convention center will be on your right after one light.
From the West: Take I-90 East into downtown Cleveland. Exit at the East 9th Street Exit. Follow East 9th Street North to St. Clair Avenue. Turn left onto St. Clair. The Cleveland Convention Center will be on the right side after the East 6th Street traffic light.
COACHES MEETING: A mandatory Coaches' Meeting for at least one (1) coach per team will take place on Monday, August 2nd at 7:00 pm at the Cleveland Convention Center. Exact directions to the meeting will be posted at team check-in.
SANCTION: This event is sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union. AAU membership is included in the entry fee for athletes and coaches listed on the roster and who have submitted the individual entry forms. All soccer players and coaches in this event must be AAU members.
ELIGIBILITY: All players should be prepared to provide valid proof of age at team check-in. (Hospital records are not acceptable!) Proof of age must be carried by the coach throughout the competition.
The age determination dates for the age divisions are as follows:
Under 18 (B & G) Born after August 1, 1980
Under 16 (B & G) Born after August 1, 1982
Under 14 (B & G) Born after August 1, 1984
Under 12 (B & G) Born after August 1, 1986
Under 10 (B & G) Born after August 1, 1988
Any player competing in a specific age division must remain in the same division throughout this tournament. A player may participate in only one age division. All-state select teams (ODP Teams) are not eligible for this tournament.
RULES OF PLAY: The AAU Junior Olympic Games soccer competition is played under UYSA rules in accordance with USYSA, USSF, and FIFA.
PLAYER ROSTER: Minimum of ten (10) team members (including goalkeeper) with a maximum of eighteen (18) team members. Each team will receive three coaches' credentials as part of the team's entry.
AWARDS: Special commemorative plaques will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place team in each age division. Each player and coach will receive special gold, silver, bronze, and copper AAU Junior Olympic Games medals for the top four finishing teams.
CELEBRATION CEREMONY: Celebration Ceremony will be held at Gund Arena on Wednesday, August 4 at 7:30 pm. To facilitate your arrival at the event, the Local Organizing Committee is setting up a hassle free transportation system that will make scheduled pick-ups at convenient locations throughout the Cleveland area and deliver you right to the arena doors. At the conclusion of the Celebration Ceremony, you will board the shuttles and be returned to your parking location. In order to arrive at the arena in time for the festivities, please plan to use the transportation system by utilizing the parking lots located close to your hotel. (A detailed map and parking directions will be provided at athlete check-in at the Cleveland Convention Center). Enjoy the spectacular show without the hassle of restrictive parking. Please be sure to fill out the appropriate section of your Event Registration Forms so that we can accurately plan to have enough shuttles at designated locations to pick you up! We look forward to seeing you at this year's Celebration Ceremonies!

A list of hotels and areas in which they are located can be found in the Athletes', Coaches', and Parents' Handbook, review this information and then call the reservation number. Be sure to have the following information ready:
· the sport you will be competing in
· the number of people in your party
· the number of rooms you need
· your arrival and departure dates
· your credit card number
IMPORTANT: Please note all hotels will send a confirmation with their individual cancellation policies. Each hotel may differ. If you have not received a confirmation within 30 days of making your reservation, please contact LCI Travel.
Dormitory housing will also be available at Cleveland State University and Baldwin-Wallace College. Ask the operator for details!
