ENTRY DEADLINE: Entries must be received by Wednesday, July 14,1999. Overnight delivery is strongly advised. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE DATE OR YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE.
ENTRY FEE: The entry fee is $70.00, which includes registration and all drug testing. All entry fees must be by cashier's check or money order made payable to: 1999 AAU Junior Olympic Games. No cash or personal checks will be accepted. Any entry form that is not fully and completely filled out will be rejected. This is the responsibility of the competing athletes.
AAU MEMBERSHIP: Current AAU membership cards are required for all athletes. Cards must be presented at athlete check-in. If athlete does not have a current membership card, one can be purchased at that time. AAU membership cards can also be purchased by calling your local AAU Association office at 1-800-AAU-4USA or by registering instantly on line at www.aausports.org.
ELIGIBILITY: Only contestants who have placed in the top three (3) of a recognized, sanctioned drug-tested competition at the Local, State, Regional, or National level during 1997, 1998, or 1999 are eligible to participate in the Mr./Ms Teenage Junior America (Qualification does not have to be through an AAU-sanctioned competition). AGE CLASS: MALE: AGE 13-15 AGE 16-17 AGE 18-19
FEMALE: AGE 13-15 AGE 16-17 AGE 18-19
NOTE: AAU Physique Committee Officials reserve the privilege of adjusting classes due to number of entries. Also, proof of age (Birth Certificate) will be required at competition site registration.
RULES: This competition shall be held under 1999 AAU Physique rules, regulations and procedures. (See AAU Physique Manual) To obtain a copy, send check or money order for $13.00 to the AAU National Headquarters, c/o Walt Disney World Resort, P.O. Box 10,000, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-1000.
CHECK-IN: All athletes will be required to check-in no later than Friday, July 30, at the Cleveland Convention Center. Birth Certificates and AAU Membership Cards will be verified at check-in. Credentials and goody bags will also be distributed during check-in, and local Cleveland area information will also be available.
Pre-Registration: It is extremely important that all entries be received no later than the above-mentioned deadline date. ENTRY FORM (S) RECEIVED BEYOND THAT DATE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! Of course, we want as many athletes as possible to participate, so please get all entry forms in on time. Again, guaranteed overnight delivery will become mandatory if it is the only way to ensure compliance with the deadline date.
On-Site Check In: Check-in for all athletes participating will be held at the Cleveland Convention Center located at 500 Lakeside Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. For check-in hours, mapping, and specific directions from locations throughout Greater Cleveland, please consult your Athletes', Coaches' and Parents' Handbook.
DIRECTIONS TO
ATHLETE CHECK-IN:
From the South: Take either I-77 or I-71 North into downtown Cleveland. Exit at the East 9th Street exit. Follow East 9th Street North to St. Clair Avenue. Turn left onto St. Clair. The Cleveland Convention Center will be on the right side after the East 6th Street traffic light.
From the East: Take I-90 West to downtown Cleveland. Exit at the East 9th Street exit. Turn left (South) at the light. Then two lights to St. Clair Avenue and make a right. The Cleveland Convention Center will be on your right after one light.
From the West: Take I-90 East into downtown Cleveland. Exit at the East 9th Street Exit. Follow East 9th Street North to St. Clair Avenue. Turn left onto St. Clair. The Cleveland Convention Center will be on the right side after the East 6th Street traffic light.

DRUG TESTING: All athletes are required to be DRUG-FREE. Urinalysis and/or polygraph drug testing will be done on a random or select basis. Anyone refusing to submit to testing, or who fails a drug test will be disqualified from the competition, along with forfeiting all awards for two (2) years, and will be suspended from the AAU. If you wish to appeal a "positive" test, you must contact the AAU National Headquarters immediately upon receiving notice of the test.
AWARDS: Athletes placing in the top three (3) in each class shall receive special gold, silver, and bronze AAU Junior Olympic Games medals, respectively. Also, special commemorative plaques will be given to overall winners in each division and special commemorative medallions will be presented to all competitors.
CELEBRATION CEREMONY: Celebration Ceremony will be held at Gund Arena on Wednesday, August 4 at 7:30 p.m. To facilitate your arrival at the event, the Local Organizing Committee is setting up a hassle free transportation system that will make scheduled pick-ups at convenient locations throughout the Cleveland area and deliver you right to the arena doors. At the conclusion of the Celebration Ceremony, you will board the shuttles and be returned to your parking location. In order to arrive at the arena in time for the festivities, please plan to use the transportation system by utilizing the parking lots located close to your hotel. (A detailed map and parking directions will be provided at athlete check-in at the Cleveland Convention Center). Enjoy the spectacular show without the hassle of restrictive parking. Please be sure to fill out the appropriate section of your Event Registration Forms so that we can accurately plan to have enough shuttles at designated locations to pick you up! We look forward to seeing you at this year's Celebration Ceremony!

A list of hotels and areas in which they are located can be found in the Athletes', Coaches', and Parents' Handbook review this information and then call the reservations number. Be sure to have the following information ready:
· the sport you will be competing in
· the number of people in your party
· the number of rooms you need
· your arrival and departure dates
· your credit card number
IMPORTANT: Please note all hotels will send a confirmation with their individual cancellation policies. Each hotel may differ. If you have not received a confirmation within 30 days of making your reservation, please contact LCI Travel.
Dormitory Housing will also be available at Cleveland State University and Baldwin-Wallace College. Ask the operator for details!
