AGE DIVISIONS:

ENTRY DEADLINE: Entries must be received by Tuesday, July 6, 1999. It is important that all forms are completed and returned together. Overnight delivery is strongly advised. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE DATE OR YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE.

ENTRY FEE: $69.00 per athlete - No personal checks will be accepted. All entry fees must be in the form of either a cashier's check or money order. Please do not send cash. Make check payable to 1999 AAU Junior Olympic Games.

AAU MEMBERSHIP: All athletes and coaches must be able to present a 1999 AAU membership card at check-in. To purchase AAU membership cards simply call your local AAU Association at 1-800-AAU-4USA or register instantly at www.aausports.org.

COMPETITION FORMAT: Competition will be conducted in OPTIONAL EXERCISES ONLY. NO COMPULSORIES: The AAU National Championships will be conducted over a four-day period with team and all-around championships being contested on the first day of competition. The top ten- (10) individuals in each event in each age group (boys' and girls') will qualify for the event finals to be held on Thursday, August 5, 1999 p.m. (Boys-Girls 12/13 year olds) and Saturday, August 7, 1999 for remaining athletes.

QUALIFICATION: Gymnasts must have placed first, second or third in the All-Around category at their AAU Association Championships. For girls, fourth to twelfth place finishers in all age divisions may qualify for the AAU National Championships provided they score a minimum of 29.00 AA. For boys, places fourth to twelfth may qualify to the AAU National Championships with a minimum score of 26.00 AA in the all divisions.

AWARDS: Team awards will be provided for the 1st - 6th place team in each age group. All-Around awards will be provided for the first eight- (8) places. Individual event awards will be provided for all finalists in each event.

AGE DETERMINATION: Determined by the gymnast's age at the time of the Celebration Ceremony (Wednesday, August 4, 1999). Gymnasts MUST compete at the AAU Association Championships in the age division in which they will compete at the AAU National Championships.

CHECK-IN: Check-in for all athletes, coaches, clubs and teams participating will be held at the Cleveland Convention Center located at 500 Lakeside Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. For check-in hours, mapping, and specific directions from locations throughout Greater Cleveland, please consult your Athletes', Coaches' and Parents' Handbook.

CELEBRATION CEREMONY: Celebration Ceremony will be held at Gund Arena on Wednesday, August 4 at 7:30 pm. To facilitate your arrival at the event, the Local Organizing Committee is setting up a hassle free transportation system that will make scheduled pick-ups at convenient locations throughout the Cleveland area and deliver you right to the arena doors. At the conclusion of Celebration Ceremony, you will board the shuttles and be returned to your parking location. In order to arrive at the arena in time for the festivities, please plan to use the transportation system by utilizing the parking lots located close to your hotel. (A detailed map and parking directions will be provided at athlete check-in at the Cleveland Convention Center). Enjoy the spectacular show without the hassle of restrictive parking. Please be sure to fill out the appropriate section of your Event Registration Forms so that we can accurately plan to have enough shuttles at designated locations to pick you up! We look forward to seeing you at this year's Celebration Ceremony!

A list of hotels can be found in the Athletes', Coaches', and Parents' Handbook, review this information and then call the reservations number. Be sure to have the following information ready:

IMPORTANT: Please note all hotels will send a confirmation with their individual cancellation policies. Each hotel may differ. If you have not received a confirmation within 30 days of making your reservation, please contact LCI Travel.

Dormitory housing will also be available at Cleveland State University and Baldwin-Wallace College. Ask the operator for details!

· "A TEAM" would be top six (1-6) in the age group; "B TEAM" would be the second six (7-12).
· All must meet the criteria score in that age group.
· At-Large athletes based on score and entries.
· Capital Cup Format used for girls
· Association awards done daily
