ENTRY DEADLINE: All entries must be received by Wednesday, July 14, 1999. All entry fees must be by cashier's check or money order made out to the 1999 AAU Junior Olympic Games. The entry fee is $40.00. Overnight delivery is strongly advised. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE DATE OR YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE.
Note: This is a two-platform meet and it is the responsibility of the lifter to know all rules and regulations that apply. Any entry form that is not fully and completely filled out will be returned. This is the responsibility of the competing lifter.
AAU MEMBERSHIP: Current AAU membership cards are required for athletes and coaches. Cards will be presented at Check-In. If an athlete or coach does not have a current membership card ($10.00), one must be purchased at that time.
ELIGIBILITY: The lifter must have totaled in an AAU Sanctioned* Powerlifting (3 Lift) Meet in either 1998 or 1999.
*Along with an AAU Sanction the meet must have the following:
1. Approved drug testing.
2. Approved AAU Powerlifting Committee referees
3. Must conform with the AAUPC rules.
RULES: This competition shall be held under AAUPC Powerlifting rules, regulations, and procedures (See AAUPC Powerlifting Handbook). To obtain a copy, please send a check or money order for $10.00 to the AAU National Headquarters, c/o Walt Disney World Resort, P.O. Box 10,000, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-1000. It is highly advisable that all competitors be extremely familiar with all rules that govern the competition. Modified conventional system to be used.
CHECK-IN: Pre-Registration: It is extremely important that all entries be received in Cleveland no later than the above-mentioned deadline date. ENTRY FORM (S) RECEIVED BEYOND THAT DATE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! Of course, we want as many athletes as possible to participate, so please get all entry forms in on time. Again, guaranteed overnight delivery will become mandatory if it is the only way to ensure compliance with the deadline date.
On-Site Check In: Check-In for all athletes, coaches, clubs and teams participating in the games will be held at the Cleveland Convention Center located at 500 Lakeside Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. For check-in hours, mapping, and specific directions from locations throughout Greater Cleveland, please consult your Athletes', Coaches' and Parents' Handbook.
DIRECTIONS TO
ATHLETE CHECK-IN: From the South: Take either I-77 or I-71 North into downtown Cleveland. Exit at the East 9th Street exit. Follow East 9th Street North to St. Clair Avenue. Turn left onto St. Clair. The Cleveland Convention Center will be on the right side after the East 6th Street traffic light.
From the East: Take I-90 West to downtown Cleveland. Exit at the East 9th Street exit. Turn left (South) at the light. Then two lights to St. Clair Avenue and make a right. The Cleveland Convention Center will be on your right after one light.
From the West: Take I-90 East into downtown Cleveland. Exit at the East 9th Street Exit. Follow East 9th Street North to St. Clair Avenue. Turn left onto St. Clair. The Cleveland Convention Center will be on the right side after the East 6th Street traffic light.
SCHEDULE: Thursday, August 5
Early weigh-in begins at 5:00 p.m. and ends at 6:30 p.m. for Friday's lifters ONLY! (Optional)
This weigh-in session will take place at the competition site (Cleveland Convention Center).
Competition Day 1 Friday, August 6
Regular weigh-in begins at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 8:30 a.m. at the competition site for Friday's competitors (all women's classes and men's classes 114-165). The competition will begin at 9:15 a.m. sharp! Athletes competing on Saturday are welcome to weigh-in on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Competition Day 2 Saturday, August 7
Regular weigh-in begins at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 8:30 a.m. at the competition site for men's classes 181- SHW. The competition will begin at 9:15 a.m. Sharp!
Items to bring with you to Weigh-In: Current AAU Membership Card along with a copy of your birth certificate, driver's license or passport.
DRUGTESTING: All lifters are required to be forty-eight months (48) DRUG-FREE. Testing will be done on a random or select basis. Anyone refusing to submit to testing, or who fails a drug-test, is immediately suspended from the competition and forfeits any and all places, awards, and records. Anyone who has failed a drug-test has three weeks to be retested by the same procedure in which the lifter had failed previously. The AAU Powerlifting Committee will advise the athlete when contacted cONCE Rning the retest procedures.
AWARDS: Athletes placing in the top five (5) in each age group and weight class RAW and ASSISTED shall receive special gold, silver, bronze and copper (4th and 5th) AAU Junior Olympic Games medals, respectively. Also, special commemorative team plaques will be given to five (5) overall teams.
TEAMS: Teams must have at least three, but not more than ten (10) lifters and two alternates. These may be divided among male/female members of the same team, including different age groups. There may not be more than two lifters in any weight class/age group. Final team rosters must be submitted before the start of competition on August 6. All athletes participating must be current AAU members. Teams may be mixed; RAW and ASSISTED. Each athlete may count towards team points only one once. (RAW or ASSTISTED.)

A list of hotels and areas in which they are located can be found in the Athletes', Coaches', and Parents' Handbook, review this information and then call the reservations number. Be sure to have the following information ready:
· the sport you will be competing in
· the number of people in your party
· the number of rooms you need
· your arrival and departure dates
· your credit card number
IMPORTANT: Please note all hotels will send a confirmation with their individual cancellation policies. Each hotel may differ. If you have not received a confirmation within 30 days of making your reservation, please contact LCI Travel.
Dormitory housing will also be available at Cleveland State University and Baldwin-Wallace College. Ask the operator for details!
