AAU MEMBERSHIP: All athletes and coaches must be members of the AAU and be able to present their 1999 AAU membership card at time of check-in. AAU membership cards will be available for purchase at a cost of $10.00 per youth athlete and $12.00 per coach. The cost of the membership card is in addition to the entry fee. All athletes and coaches should have already purchased a membership card prior to the regional qualifier. ENTRY FEE: $30.00 per athlete

ENTRY DEADLINE: All registration materials must be received no later than Thursday, July 1, 1999. All entry fees must be in the form of either a cashier's check or money order made payable to 1999 AAU Junior Olympic Games. No personal checks will be accepted. Please do not send cash. The entry fee is in addition to the AAU membership card. ANY ENTRY FORM (S) NOT RECEIVED BY THE ABOVE-MENTIONED DEADLINE DATE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! NO EXCEPTIONS! Guaranteed overnight delivery is strongly advised and will become necessary if it is the only way to ensure that all forms are to be received by the published deadline date.

QUALIFICATION: Participation in the JUMP ROPE events requires qualifying at one of the designated AAU Junior Olympic Games Jump Rope regional qualifiers to be held at different geographic locations at various times, the Virginia State Games open qualifier in Richmond, VA, or at the Western Open Qualifier. COMPETITION FORMAT: All competition will be held in a single round. The Technical Committee reserves the right to eliminate or combine events in response to the number and distribution of entries.

COACHES AND OFFICIALS: All coaches and officials should be registered members of the AAU. Participating officials qualify for certification and ranking. All officials should be dressed in white shirts and navy pants skirts or shorts

RULES: The 1999 FISAC rules of competition, as modified by the AAU Jump Rope Committee, will apply. To order a copy of the 1999 AAU Jump Rope Rulebook, send $5.00 to the AAU National Headquarters, P.O. Box 10,000, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-1000.

CHECK-IN: Pre-Registration: It is extremely important that all entries be received in Cleveland no later than the above-mentioned deadline date. ENTRY FORM (S) RECEIVED BEYOND THAT DATE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! Of course, we want as many athletes as possible to participate, so please get all entry forms in on time. Again, guaranteed overnight delivery will become mandatory if it is the only way to ensure compliance with the deadline date. Team entry forms must also be received by the deadline in order for athletes to be entered in the events.

EVENTS: DIVISIONS AGE SIZE CATEGORY

AGE DETERMINATION: The competitor's age is determined effective prior to the first day of January (1) of the calendar year. Whatever the age of the competitor on December 31, 1998 is competitor's official competition age for the 1999 competition year. Proof must be provided if challenged (certified birth certificate or comparable legal document).

AWARDS: AAU Junior Olympic Games medals will be awarded to the top three (3) individual athletes per combined event in each age category of each division. A team plaque will be awarded to the top three- (3) teams in the Group Synchronized Routine. Winners of the component parts will receive a medal. Place winners (2-10) will receive ribbons. All participants will receive a T-shirt and participation certificate commemorating the event. The Technical Committee may change awards given.

SOUND EQUIPMENT: Sound equipment will be provided. Each individual or team is responsible for providing their accompaniment to the Sound Manager on a standard audiocassette tape. The accompaniment must be the only sound on the tape and must be recorded at the very beginning of a standard audiocassette tape. Tapes should be clearly marked with the competitor's team name. The accompaniment must be recorded at the flat line of the equalizer to assure comparable volume for all teams. No volume adjustments will be made. The volume and quality of the accompaniment are the responsibility of the competition and not the Sound Manager. Volume or quality of sound will not be judged. Tapes must be cued so the music begins immediately when pressing the start button.

CELEBRATION CEREMONY: Celebration Ceremony will be held at Gund Arena on Wednesday, August 4 at 7:30 pm. To facilitate your arrival at the event, the Local Organizing Committee is setting up a hassle free transportation system that will make scheduled pick-ups at convenient locations throughout the Cleveland area and deliver you right to the arena doors. At the conclusion of the Celebration Ceremony, you will board the shuttles and be returned to your parking location. In order to arrive at the arena in time for the festivities, please plan to use the transportation system by utilizing the parking lots located close to your hotel. (A detailed map and parking directions will be provided at athlete check-in at the Cleveland Convention Center). Enjoy the spectacular show without the hassle of restrictive parking. Please be sure to fill out the appropriate section of your Event Registration Forms so that we can accurately plan to have enough shuttles at designated locations to pick you up! TRANSPORTATION: Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from all competition venues.
